The WasteCap Resource Conservation Network (WasteCap), a program of the Business and Industry Association, will sunset as of Oct. 31, 2006.
Founded in 1991, WasteCap served the New Hampshire business community for 15 years, leading efforts to reduce waste, promote recycling, and encourage energy and water conservation. Federal funding for the program has been redirected and WasteCap staff members have recently decided to pursue new career opportunities. Consequently, BIA’s board of directors determined this is an appropriate time to recognize WasteCap’s accomplishments and bring the program to a successful culmination.
WasteCap has fulfilled its mission, with tremendous support from the state’s business community and state and federal agencies. BIA will continue to provide certain core programs and services to businesses, including the New Hampshire Materials Exchange and the annual Renewable Energy Conference, and will investigate new opportunities and funding sources for business-related resource conservation assistance and education.
Despite the WasteCap program’s years of success and commitment to environmental leadership, BIA recognizes there is still more work to do on these important issues. We look forward to continued work with New Hampshire businesses and other stakeholders on efforts to protect the state’s natural resources and ensure our businesses and industries remain competitive in the international marketplace.
